Latest Forecast from IRLCO-CSA – 5th Nov 2014
SYNOPSIS: There were no reports of African Armyworm (Spodoptera exempta Walker) outbreaks received from any of the IRLCO-CSA Member Countries. Most Member countries have started servicing pheromone traps in preparation for monitoring moths’ movements and development of outbreaks.
Outlook (Nov 2014 – Jan 2015): The Armyworm outbreak season will commence with the onset of rains. While servicing of pheromone traps has been on-going in most Member Countries, it is essential to ensure that mechanisms for monitoring and communicating moth trap data are in place for effective forecasting of outbreaks.
