New Publication: Wolbachia bacteria make armyworms more susceptible to SpexNPV baculovirus
The journal “Ecology Letters” has published an article reporting the effects of a symbiotic bacterium called Wolbachia on the susceptibility of African armyworms to the SpexNPV baculovirus that is being developed as a biological pesticide in Tanzania.
Graham, R.I., Grzywacz, D., Mushobozi, W.L. & Wilson, K. (2012) Wolbachia in a major African crop pest increases susceptibility to viral disease rather than protects. Ecology Letters 15(9): 993-1000. DOI: 10.1111/j.1461-0248.2012.01820.x
