Latest African Armyworm Forecast from IRLCO-CSA – 2nd Nov 2016
SYNOPSIS:
No outbreaks of African armyworm (Spodoptera exempta, Walker) were reported during the previous month. Armyworm outbreaks are likely to occur in some of the IRLCO-CSA Member Countries between now and January 2017.

CURRENT SITUATION:
There were no reports of Armyworm outbreaks in any of the Member Countries.
IRLCO-CSA issued Armyworm pheromone traps and accessories to all its Member Countries during the month of October 2016. This was to strengthen the Member Country’s capacity to monitor Armyworm moths and hence, improve on their national armyworm forecasting capacity.

OUTLOOK (May – Jul 2016):
Armyworm outbreaks are likely to occur in some of the IRLCO-CSA Member Countries.
Armyworm trap operators are requested to service their traps, to monitor the traps and to submit their moth catches to their respective national forecasting officers.
