Armyworm Summit
December 23rd 2012: A team of experts met at the Zambian Vice-President’s residence to discuss the current armyworm crisis in the country.
Present at the meeting included Dr Guy Scott (Vice-President and chair of the Disasters and Mitigation Unit), Dr Patrick Kangwa (National Coordinator of the DMU), who is responsible for coordinating mitigation activities such as the issuing of free pesticide and seeds, Dr Mukanga Mweshi (Chief Agricultural Research Officer at the Zambia Agriculture Research Institution), and Professor Ken Wilson, an expert in the biology of African armyworms from Lancaster university, UK, who is part of the team developing SpexNPV as a safe and affordable biopesticide against African armyworms.
